Over the past few years, as I’m getting older, I’ve been taking much better care of my skin. I’m constantly browsing the Sephora website and my favorite beauty blogs for new products to try, which is how I stumbled upon Farmacy Beauty. I received samples of their Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask and Skin Dew Hydrating Essence & Setting Spray in my Sephora Play boxes and was hooked, so I was beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to try more of their products.
ABOUT FARMACY BEAUTY
Farmacy uses farm-grown ingredients combined with cutting-edge technologies to create irritant free skincare products. Their signature ingredient is “GreenEnvy”, a variant of Echinacca Purpurea, which helps protect and firm the skin. This patented ingredient is farmed in Upstate New York and transported just a few hours to their lab, where the magic happens. I’ve been testing these products for a couple of months, as I wanted to have a good grasp on their effectiveness. I must say, I’m super impressed with this entire range. Let’s break it down, shall we?
GREEN CLEAN MAKEUP MELTAWAY CLEANSING BALM
A nourishing cleansing balm that erases makeup and gently lifts away impurities caused by pollution, it leaves the skin hydrated and silky smooth.
As a huge fan of double cleansing, Green Clean Cleansing Balm was an all-around winner for me. It gently removes all traces of makeup and leaves the skin feeling soft and smooth. The texture is softer than I would have expected. Using the included spatula, I scoop a nickel size amount from the tub and work it between my fingers to warm up the product, which transforms into a silky oil. When massaged into the skin, it melts all traces of makeup and rinses beautifully with warm water or a clean wash cloth. Sometimes oils and balms can leave my skin feeling greasy, but this one rinses clean and leaves my face feeling hydrated. This was the standout product for me. It removes all of my makeup, but is so gentle on my sensitive skin.
HONEY SAVIOR ALL-IN-ONE SKIN REPAIR SALVE
A soothing and healing multi-purpose salve that targets extra-dry skin, calms irritations and helps treat minor abrasions caused by dry, cracked skin.
This salve was a serious godsend during the Winter months. With it’s thicker, jelly-like consistency, Honey Savior became a staple for my overly dehydrated skin. No matter how much lotion or body butter I applied, my knees, elbows and hands remained dry, until I met Honey Savior. Although it’s a bit too heavy to use on the entire body, I apply it to these areas (being sure to massage the product in well) and was left with smooth, soft skin. I especially enjoy using this at night before bed. Although it’s not marketed for your lips, I’ve used it as a lip balm with good results. I would love for Farmacy to make a smaller travel size, as I love using this on my cuticles and the 1.6 oz tube is a bit large to carry around in my smaller handbags.
INVINCIBLE ROOT CELL ANTI-AGING SERUM
The ultimate anti-aging and skin radiance serum with unique triple hyaluronic acid complex.
The Invincible serum promises to improve hydration and reduce the appearance of lines & wrinkles, while also firming the skin. It’s packed with all kinds of amazing ingredients like Farmacy’s patented GreenEnvy, which contains Cichoric Acid, their Triple Hyaluronic Acid Complex & ProForm Vitamin C. The product comes in a 1 oz white glass bottle with a dropper. The serum has a watery texture, so I’ve found it easiest to dispense it into the palm of my hand and warm it before patting it gently into my skin. It spreads onto the face like water, then gets the tiniest bit tacky before quickly absorbing into the skin. After using Invincible consistently for the last 8 weeks (along with Sleep Tight), I’ve noticed a serious boost in hydration. I started using it exclusively at night for the first couple of weeks, then found that it wears well under makeup and began using it during the day as well. In addition to my skin feeling super soft and moisturized, I’ve also noticed a softening of my fine lines. The super lightweight formula didn’t irritate my sensitive skin one bit and was incredibly effective, especially when used at night in conjunction with their Sleep Tight nighttime moisturizer (see review below).
SLEEP TIGHT FIRMING NIGHT BALM
An innovative, renewing night treatment, this lightweight balm transforms into a gentle oil-gel.
Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm is one of the most unique products I’ve tried in quite awhile. I started using it in February, when my skin was insanely dry and dehydrated from the intense New England weather. Sleep Tight was like a drink of water for my skin. Farmacy calls it a “balm”, but if a balm, an oil and a gel had a baby, it would be Sleep Tight. I scoop a tiny amount (you seriously don’t need more than a dime size to cover your entire face) and warm it with my fingertips. As it warms, the jelly-like balm transforms into more of an oil. Once applied to the skin, it’s magical hydrating powers go to work. After the first night, I noticed a huge improvement in the redness and flakiness in my face. As the days went on, my skin felt better and better, until I wasn’t fighting the winter skin battle anymore. After a solid 8 weeks, my skin is so soft and hydrated. The first time I used it, I applied too much. You need much less product than a traditional moisturizer. With the correct amount of product, this balm hydrates without feeling heavy or greasy. It didn’t break me out and leaves my skin feeling so soft in the morning. This product is so hydrating, that I think it may be too much for daily use on someone with a more oily skin type, but for someone with dry skin, Sleep Tight is a gem.
As I mentioned earlier, I also tried samples of Honey Potion & Skin Dew. The Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hydration Mask is amazing! I was in desperate need of some hydration and this mask answered my prayers. When applied to the face, there’s a slight warming sensation which fades away after the mask is rinsed off. Fifteen minutes later, you’re left with glowing, radiant, hydrated skin. I loved this mask so much that I purchased the full size during the Sephora VIB sale last week. I had mixed emotions about Skin Dew Hydrating Essence Mist & Setting Spray. The product itself is amazing, but the nozzle on the sample bottle sprayed a heavy stream in one spot, rather than a light mist of product. This very well could have been a faulty nozzle or a problem exclusively with the sample bottles. I suppose I could have transferred the setting spray to another bottle, but instead I’ve been spraying the product onto a beauty blender, then patting it into my skin. I do this as a final step in my makeup application anyhow, so it wasn’t a huge inconvenience, but I prefer a light mist when using setting sprays.
