The beauty community was thrown into a frenzy last week when word spread that Glossier was releasing a new flavor of it’s cult favorite Balm Dotcom in a collaboration with Milk Bar – Glossier Birthday Balm Dotcom! Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve seen photos of the aesthetically pleasing & beautifully packaged Glossier products all over social media. Glossier is easy to love – the brand provides everyday, wearable skincare & makeup. The little girl in me loves the pretty packaging, the pink bubble wrap pouches that each order is packed in and their range of flavored skin salve, Balm Dotcom, which reminds me of Lip Smackers for grownups.
Glossier’s Balm Dotcom comes in six flavors – Original (unscented), Mint, Rose, Coconut, Cherry and the new Birthday flavor. The Birthday flavor smells and tastes like vanilla cake, so much so that I have to remind myself that it’s not edible. It’s a clear balm with a very subtle shimmer – just enough to make your lips sparkle in the sunlight. It’s also gorgeous on the cheekbones as a subtle highlight. As if Glossier’s packaging wasn’t gorgeous enough, they added holographic glitter to the tube, which makes me feel all giddy inside.
The universal skin salve can also be used on the cuticles and on dry skin, but I’d recommend saving this glittery goodness of the Glossier Birthday Balm Dotcom for your lips and using the Original (unscented) Balm Dotcom for this.
