My fellow skincare junkies will understand – there is nothing more exciting than the release of a new Sunday Riley product. My heart skips a beat whenever I see something new on the brand’s Instagram feed or teased on the Sephora website. So, when I learned that Sunday Riley would be releasing it’s first ever mask, I nearly fainted. Okay, I’m being dramatic – but I seriously couldn’t wait to try it. After weeks of anticipation, my friendly, neighborhood FedEx man delivered a package from the skincare queen, Sunday Riley, and inside I found the newest product in her already brilliant lineup, the Sunday Riley Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask. The heavens parted and the angels sang – my skincare prayers had been answered.
The timing of Sunday Riley’s Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask to my doorstep couldn’t have been better, as I had been battling the kind of crazy stress breakouts that I hadn’t seen since I was a teenager. Needless to say, I was anxious to find out whether Sunday Riley’s Saturn Mask could solve my acne problems in the same manner that she had been fixing all of my other skincare concerns for the last few years. A week later, my skin is clear, redness is gone and I finally feel like myself again.
What makes this mask different? Well, it’s got 10% medicated Sulfur designed to, not only treat the blemishes you already have, but help prevent new acne. It also works beautifully to calm your skin and unclog pores without leaving your face feeling tight and dry. I’ve mentioned numerous times how insanely sensitive my skin is – half of the products in my arsenal leave my skin red seconds after application, but I noticed absolutely no sensitivities with this mask. Let’s get into the nitty-gritty and talk about the ingredients:
Medicated Sulfur 10%: To dry and clear up acne, while preventing new blemishes from forming.
Niacinamide 4%: Reduces surface redness and helps clear congested skin.
Zinc PCA 1%: Helps to absorb excess oil for a matte appearance.
Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate: Reduces the appearance of surface redness.
Tea Tree Oil: Well known for it’s antiseptic & healing properties.
Bentonite Clay: Contains detoxifying properties, absorbs excess oil and draws out toxins from the skin.
Manuka: Known for antibacterial, moisturizing & healing properties.
Tumeric: Reduces oils & the appearance of aging.
My one reservation about trying this product was fear of the scent. If you’ve ever smelled Sulfur, you know what I’m talking about, but while Sunday Riley’s Saturn mask does have a distinct odor, it’s not necessarily bad. This mint-green mask wasn’t nearly as smelly as I expected. After leaving this mask on for 20-30 minutes, my skin felt amazing. The mask left absolutely no trace of irritation and I noticed a huge difference in the amount of redness and the size of my blemishes the following morning. Saturn shines as a spot treatment as well. Amazingly enough, my blemishes were significantly reduced, if not gone after sleeping with Saturn dotted on my spots overnight. Sunday Riley has created yet another brilliant product – I really can’t say enough good things about this mask. I regularly rotate face masks based on my skincare needs, but the Sunday Riley Saturn Mask exceeded all of my expectations as far as an acne mask is concerned. If you struggle with problem skin, I would recommend running to Sephora and picking up this mask, pronto! You won’t regret it!
P.S., Saturn makes a great addition to Sunday Riley’s other acne-banishing offerings – U.F.O. Ultra Clarifying Face Oil and Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner. Try the trio together with the Space Race Fight Acne, Oil + Pores at Warp Speed Kit ($65) at Sephora.
