Twice a year, Sephora offers a discount on it’s entire selection and the beauty obsessed (myself included) go crazy filling our carts with everything we’ve been dreaming of. I usually start early, prepping my cart in anticipation of this bi-annual event, then narrow my list down to avoid draining my bank account to fill my (already overflowing) beauty room. This Spring, I vowed to limit my haul to repurchases with a few new goodies sprinkled in.
HAIR
I had to restock some of my Bumble & Bumble favorites. Their Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil is one of my all-time favorite products. It smooths and adds shine to the hair and after it’s applied, my fingers slide through my hair like silk. Bumble & Bumble’s Thickening Dryspun Finish adds light airy texture and smells divine. The one product I use every time I style my hair is the BB Does It All spray. It works like a hairspray/styling spray hybrid, always leaving my hair soft and touchable, no matter how much product I use. I spray it before, during and after I’m done styling my hair and my style lasts all day. A new favorite hair brand of mine is IGK. Their packaging is gorgeous and I love the concept that each product is inspired by a different city. I picked up the Laid Back Defrizz and Anti-Static Spray as a backup. This product gives a gorgeous shine to the hair without feeling greasy and helps with the static that’s unavoidable during the New England winters. The Elizabeth & James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo was a new purchase. I love the Nirvana White fragrance and decided to try the dry shampoo in the hopes that my hair would smell just as good after using it. Lastly, as a 100 point perk, I snapped up the Drybar Triple Sec. I’m a fan of a couple of their other products (Sparkling Soda Shine Spray & The Chaser Shine Cream) and wanted to give something new a go.
SKINCARE
I typically spend the majority of my VIB sale budget on skincare, but my top shelf is full at the moment. If you follow me on IG and saw my holiday haul, you’d understand. So I decided to only order a few skincare bits this time around. First, I was badly in need of a beauty oil and since Sephora is now carrying La Mer (can I get a hallelujah!), it was a no brainer. I ordered the smaller 0.5 oz. bottle of the Renewal Oil from La Mer. My second splurge came in a pretty pink package from Drunk Elephant, their T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial, which received amazing reviews on Sephora. Next up, needed a resupply of one of my favorite sheet masks from Too Cool For School, the Hydrating Egg Cream Mask. I didn’t notice that they now carry a firming & a pore tightening version, but those next on my list.
MAKEUP
I almost didn’t buy any makeup this time around, but I couldn’t resist. The only repurchase in my cart was my favorite lid primer, the YSL Couture Eye Primer. Another Yves Saint Laurent product that found it’s way into my basket was their new Eye Gloss Smudger. I’m super into glossy lids (as I said in my Friday Five last week) and this is the perfect product to create that look. I’ve been testing it over different shadows and had very little problems with creasing. I’ll have a full review on this product and a few others to create this look coming soon! There were also two Make Up For Ever products that caught my eye. First, the Star Lit Powder in “Golden Pink”. I really had my sights set on “Ivory”, but Sephora was out of stock. After using this a couple of times, I think that any of the eight shades would be stunning. Next, I picked up the MUFE Ultra HD Skin Booster. I tested it in store last month and fell inlove. It’s a must have for dry skinned ladies. To top it off, another 100 point perk in the form of Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer.
TOOLS
A Sephora haul is never complete without a restock of your favorite beauty tools, right? A new Beauty Blender is a necessity, as is a brand spankin’ new Sephora powder puff. These are amazing for setting your face. I used to use the Laura Mercier version, but the Sephora puff is just as soft and a few dollars cheaper. I finally grabbed a CosmoCube mixing palette – no more mixing foundations on the back of my hand or the tiny mirror of one of my compacts. I added two brushes to this haul. I was in need of a new brow brush, as I’ve yet to find one that I absolutely love. I’m hoping that my new Anastasia Beverly Hills #14 Brush works out nicely. I also had the ABH #25 Highlight brush in my basket, but switched it out at the last minute for the Sephora Pro Highlight Brush #28. The Sephora version had stellar reviews and I can’t argue. This brush is perfection!
